SAP Long Material Number- LAMA
In SAP netweaver suite material number ( MATNR) has a length of 18 but with S/4 HANA the material number has an extended up to length 40.

Though the material number is extended up to 40 chars in the DB to make this actually work , the below customizing has to be adopted.
Here max length can be provided as 40.
In few BAPI’s/interfaces the material numbers are used, in order to enable this to work with extended length, the below customizing has to be performed.
